Comprehensive Eye Test
All our eye tests are carried out by certified Optometrists using advanced diagnostic equipment. Our eye exam includes a series of tests to evaluate your eyesight and eye health.
Children's Vision
An eye examination is important for children of all ages. Even kids who cannot name the letters of the alphabet are able to have their eyes tested. We make the pediatric eye care of our little community members as interesting as possible.
Certified Safety Eyewear
Occupational hazards at workplaces could cause serious damage to the vision. We can provide certified prescription safety glasses with a compliance standard for vision impact protection.
Specialised Vision Assessment
We are qualified to complete the Police, Armed Forces vision assessments and drivers licence screenings. We are a preferred supplier for the Ministry of Social Development.
Dry Eye Clinic
Approximately 20% of the adult population suffer from dry eyes. Our Optometrists are experts at analysing your dry eye symptoms and recommending the best treatment options to reduce your discomfort.
Eyewear & Contact Lenses
As an independent optometry practice, we source our eyewear and contact lenses from reputable designers around the world, including Italy and France. We can help you choose the frames that best fit your lifestyle and personal style.

Jenny Stewart
B.Optom, Cert. Oc. Pharm
Growing up in on a farm in Puketitiri, Hawke's Bay, Jenny got her first pair of glasses at the age of 12. And voilà! The glasses allowed her to see the sheep in the paddocks above their house.
Jenny attended the University of Auckland and graduated with a Bachelor of Optometry in 2000 and returned to Hawke's Bay to practise Optometry. She gained her Therapeutic optometry qualification in 2004.
She then bought Grant & Douglas from Hugh Douglas in 2006 and continues to enjoy all aspects of being an Optometrist. Jenny has a particular passion for helping people with dry eyes and children's vision.

In her spare time, she likes to walk with her dog Pepi, spend time with family and embrace her creative side, sewing and crafting.
Victoria Cooney
B.Optom (Hons)
Victoria has been a part of the Grant & Douglas team since 2012. Born and raised in Lower Hutt, she graduated from the University of Auckland in 2011. Victoria spent a year working in Invercargill before moving north to be closer to friends and family. She says she didn't intend to settle in Hawke's Bay, but now she loves it here - especially the sunny weather and laid-back lifestyle.
It was her Optometrist that she saw yearly throughout her teenage years who encouraged her into the Optometry profession, and she feels lucky to have found a job that she genuinely enjoys. Her favourite aspects of the job are building relationships with her patients and problem solving to find solutions to her patients' concerns.
Outside of work, she is kept busy with her two young children, enjoys spending time outdoors and baking in her spare time.
